i love the the architecture and geometry of the Four-bedroom beachfront! and the refreshing natural light of the second house. they are all gr8. tks
Javier A rtadi geometrical design,,made me feel as i was living in.Loved those shapes. It goes straight in the context, relax the soul and we are in,staright away.bravo,,,beautiful, and genious.
Don't want to sound negative but with exception of the 'Panama house' which by scale alone, a scale that it seems to embrace (good art works help) is pretty impressive, and the floating lines of parts of Casa Mirindiba, the rest seem very pedestrian. With the amount of money obviously available, it would not be too difficult to come up with a show home. All seem still very involved with 90's minimalist language. Particularly dislike Javier's beach house. Seems to be very lacking in any individuality. I'm sure I'll get crucified for these comments but as an Australian with a long history of beach architectural history these examples seem very ordinary.
What is big and expensive 'aint always that good. Sorry guys ... go for it ... crucify me. peter
I found it interesting how many of these houses made use of space below other spaces, which created some very appealing outdoor areas.
Peter, I happen to agree with you. Not too terribly impressed with the overall effect on any of these. Like you said, for the money that was obviously available, so much more could have been done. My least favorite is Beach House by Javier Artadi Arquitecto. It's very dull. All I see are massive walls with tiny openings cut into each of them.
Hey Peter, as a fellow Australian with a long involvement of wokring on high end beach houses, I totally agree with you. Some of the best projects I have worked on have been as simplistic as you can get....In some cases really no more than a fitted out shed, but with so much expression installed, it nearly makes one weep with pleasure!!.
Perhaps we are spolit living in Aussie given our 20,000Kms of coast line!
Another noticable issue with nealry all of the featured dwellings would no doubt be the incredible maintenance issues which come to mind.If one is considering a beach property remember you are within close proximity to a (highly) corosive emviroment, let alone the wind & sun! And enviroment(and bushfires) make no exception to your social background & without carefull planning, that hand will always be in the pocket to pay someone!
I , for one, an luckly enough to own a small but high expressive property on a Tasmanian East coast beach, with 1 Km direct frontage to a 10Km long safe surf beach with no neighbours. It's really all about the beach surrounds, not so much the type of dwelling one builds or owns.
We enjoy our time there with little fuss but for the love of the pristine bush & beach that envelops us.
Beautiful architecture! The beach house looks a little like my aunt's fabulous house in Malibu! Hopefully I'll be as lucky as she is to own a beautiful house like that someday!
....meant the first beach house on the page. They're all beach houses.....duh
These are heavenly. The only issue I foresee with living by a beach is hurricanes and sand that would constantly get on my floors. But then again, feet can be washed or I could place a coco mat by my door
Amazing modern beach front homes. All very cubist in their designs. Too bad they didn't incorporate shipping containers into any of the designs. All fresh virgin timber and concrete. Super! When the first hurricane comes are they going to survive? If your going to do new constructions and not reuse / recycle materials at least build a f---ing dome. There are two things all these homes have in common: waste and rectangles. A castle on a hill is visually striking. These are just mood lit waste boxes.
I love this post, it mst have taken forever to create it, I know from experience.
yep! :) it took a while. Love your blog BTW... :)
These are absolutely well designed shapes of houses! I feel that iw ant to listen to classic music when i look at them! Truely, Architecture is a wonderful and an amazing career i have ever seen!!!!!!!
